Are you setting the traps after you wind it? If so, are you letting the string unwrap slowly while you're holding the axle? Doing that will allow the flex of the rod to dissipate, which should help keep the string from unwinding. I also found that setting the car on the ground before you let go of ...

Question... when releasing your mousetrap car at the competition do you

a. wind it and just let it go
b. set up the moustrap and set it off with a pencil

Im asking because option b isn't working for me and im scared :/

Are you allowed to bring a ruler to use when calculating your ratios? According to rule 2b, you can bring "tools". Does this include a ruler?
