Hi! My partner and I aren't sure how to solve this kind of problem:
What effort force is required in order to keep the system in equilibrium. Assume that the system is ideal.

Re: Machines B/C
Hi! This might be a dumb question, but in rule 3a it says:
The device must be a class 1 lever with a single beam no longer than 80.0 cm.
I used a meter stick as my lever, and that is 100cm, so do I have to cut 20 cm off?

Re: Ornithology B/C
Hi! Can anyone help me with the differences between the common raven and the American crow? I know that their tail shape is different, but what about pictures that aren't with flying?

Re: Ornithology B/C
Hi! So basically we are done with our notes and now I am focusing on identifying the birds without the help of a field guide or other sources. I already have some of them down, but I'm using quizlet and it doesn't work that well because: I just memorize the specific picture shown and not the actual ...

Re: String Unraveling?
I wouldn't say that's the only way to solve it. Last year, I had this issue, and it was really affecting our runs, so instead of starting our mousetraps with the built-in trigger, we made a lock on the axle that could be released with a pencil (this was legal under last year's rules - not sure if i...

Re: String Unraveling?
Are you setting the traps after you wind it? If so, are you letting the string unwrap slowly while you're holding the axle? Doing that will allow the flex of the rod to dissipate, which should help keep the string from unwinding. I also found that setting the car on the ground before you let go of ...

String Unraveling?
When I wrap the string around the axle, the string unravels before I can set it off. How can I fix this?

Re: Machines B/C
Hi, I have been studying for Machines but my first competition that has Machines is at states (March), so I have been procrastinating to build my device lol. Can someone tell me what materials you would need to make a Div B lever? Like would you use wood/metal, what the fulcrum would be, etc. Thank...
