Re: Forensics C
Hey everyone, I've got state this weekend and I was wondering if anyone had some tips for forensics. I've only done it once at an invitational and forgot to learn about qualitative analysis so that brought my score down quite a bit. On another note, if anyone has a well-organized notes sheet, let m...

Re: Protein Modeling C
Hey guys, I finished my protein model for regionals but I have trouble trying to find ideas for "creative additions" to it. Does anyone know any good resources to get ideas for such additions? One person on this forum mentioned papers to look at but I have trouble finding them. I used the...

One team at the Solon invite brought a screwdriver to screw closed their lid... Tape wouldn't be a bad idea, but some ES's might be weird about it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Re: A Few Thermometer Related Questions
For number 4, is the answer really usually not? I've competed in this event several times now. About half the time, the thermometer stayed in the device the entire time--the ES had usually managed to acquire labquests, so that they could set the collection time, and have a volunteer start the therm...

I usually only use the appearance as a last resort to narrowing down. Lets say there are 2 with a yellow flame test, and they have the same solubility, etc. then I would go to the appearance...JJC28 wrote:How much can you rely on the appearance of the powder for the purpose of identifying it?

Re: 2 simple auestions need answers
1. Can we put the cotton swab in the hole of our device DURING the actual cooling down process? 2. How many graphs do we need? 1. In the competitions I've been in, you put a cotton ball inside the hole of the device during the entirety of the cooling process. 2. The rules say: 2 points for includin...

Re: Forensics C
Guessing you went to the Solon Invitational? The Solon Invitational forensics was absolutely insane. My partner's first time doing it, so I had her literally just read and make lists of the suspects/what would implicate them. That alone took her 10 minutes (but she did find a bonus at the end of th...
