Re: Triggering the Vehicle

What should I use to trigger the gravity vehicle? There is the option of sticking the pencil in a loop of sorts on the vehicle and then pulling it out to release the vehicle, seeing as the rules permit that the pencil be part of the actuating mechanism. When you stick a pencil through a loop, the p...

Re: Size of Vehicle

Is it ok if my dowel is flush with the bottom of my vehicle? My vehicle is already less than 1 cm from the ground and I'm worried that if I move the dowel further down it will touch the ramp surface. The dowel is completely visible from the front of the vehicle.

Re: Detector Building C

The top-down photograph requires "labels identifying all components and detailing their functions". For anyone who has done this event (or an ES) does that mean I need to label every resistor, every wire, and all of the pins on the Arduino I am using? I remember just labeling the arduino, power sup...

Re: Detector Building C

I just tested my device in freezing water and then boiling water to make a new calibration equation. I was able to record voltage readings for both temperatures, but upon removing the sensor from the boiling water, it began reading temperatures around 75 C for room temperature. If I let it rest, it ...

Re: Gravity Vehicle C

does anyone have any ideas of reducing skidding once the car stops? The has been recently skidding at the very end of my runs, and I would like to know how to solve this problem other than moving the ramp around. Is your test surface clean? You probably already do this, but if not it's a good idea ...

Re: Incorrect Thermistor Reading

Where in the circuit is your resistor? If you are using a 10k ohm thermistor, I'm pretty sure you need a 10k ohm resistor connecting the cathode to ground.

Re: Ramp Creation

Did you have to use anything to bend the 1/6 in sheet metal or were you able to just press it against the ramp profile and drill it down?
