xiangyu wrote: March 10th, 2020, 4:28 pm Quick note, most people don't post their times as it is sensitive data so keep that in mind.

My max was 1:50 with monoplane each way.

Xiangyu,
If you're willing to reveal, what height ceiling was that in?

Re: Wright Stuff C

According to the web site, https://goldengateso.com/announcements/, 30' ceiling. The 5-minute may also be after bonuses. Still, very good, would have to be slightly over 2 minutes per flight. And it was not Troy (they got 2nd) Coach Chuck Yea I heard Troy was at about 3 min combined raw. (Also I th...

this is not true, I saw the flight and timed them, and the scores breakdowns from ggso graders do not show that either, they had a combined just 10 seconds above troy

Re: Wright Stuff C

Edit: what does "Springhouse parents *intensify* mean? Teams whos parents make the builds, this is probably more of a joke, but this is a real problem and can be clearly seen many times. I coach middle school builds at Churchill, and when I go to competitions, there are clear signs of parents ...

Re: Wright Stuff C

A biplane suffers aerodynamic interference between its two overlapping wings. The high-pressure air below the upper wing and the low-pressure air above the lower wing tend to cancel each other out. Because of this aerodynamic interference, a biplane does not obtain twice the lift of a monoplane hav...

Re: 2020 Golden Gate Invitational

Darn, congrats to Mountain View! Even with Troy bombing two events, I'd bet it feels a little good :) Not certain if Troy has lost since the 2015 Nationals, but I believe they bombed an event badly at that event too. 2016 Nationals, they hadn't lost since then, either way, big congrats to mountain ...

Re: 2020-2021 Events

WIFI LAB - I did wifi lab at nationals two years ago, definitely a good event in terms of the build. It's was fun but hard to make on my own, I needed more than two hands. Difficult to test at home, there was a special attachment need to read wifi signals, and some wifi routers don't have connection...

Re: Wright Stuff C

Here's a question I have about kits. There is always a lot of 'noise' about how important it is to have a kit to win or only kits can win. Which allows Wright Stuff to be attacked, unfortunately. Subjectively I don't believe that to be true. Obviously the first place plane wasn't a kit. Note, I DO ...

1st: Albequerque HS with a 5:09 2nd: Bayard Rustin HS with a 4:25 3rd: Northville HS with a 3:50 From what I observed ^ I was 4th place with a 3:39 no bonus for time. During practice on Friday, I got 4:02 twice, Acton Boxborough can attest. But nonetheless it was great flying here and really amazin...
