Re: Rocket Nose??

Someone prob already asked this but does the tube design have to satisfy the nose cone being blunt rule? If so how do we make it to fit the rule? thx donutsandcupcakes In my opinion as long as the bottle cap can rest on the tube it is fine. I do planning on submitting an FAQ if you want to submit o...

Re: Boomilever B/C Design Software [Free] Request

How well do these programs work? In my experience, they seem to be inaccurate and often undercalculate how much my structure can hold.

Re: Parachute Payload System

If that’s the case, a tiny piece of tape touching the ball and the plastic film “basket” would meet that criteria. But still, I think the terms “parachute” and “parachute payload system” are broad enough to allow for that design. Bigger picture - the general rules allow anything that’s not specific...

Re: HELP NEEDED ASAP COMP NEXT WEEK

Hey guys, Thanks for all the help!! With help of the wind, we got first place!! We ended up using triangular fins and just put the parachute in, without folding it. We got 33 seconds in NorCal, so outside. Waaiiittt, the event was held outside? I thought it has to be indoors hmmm :?: . 33 seconds s...

Re: Parachute Payload System

For whatever it’s worth - Our teams have had success making a “basket” for the ball out of a small piece of plastic. We found that not having to tape shroud lines directly to the ball reduced tangles or twisting and deployment was more consistent. Dry cleaning bags and thin cotton string have been ...

Re: Parachute Payload System

was legal at northview. I don't see why the event supervisors at that regionals mandated a nose "cone", the tube definitely passes both the bluntness and bottle cap test they pulled a "spirit of the rules" card on me, lol. Sorry to hear that. I'd assume that invitationals are more lenient with the ...

Re: Parachute Payload System

Has anyone competed at an invitational using this approach and can confirm it was considered legal? That would certainly make this easier if that's true - i.e. tube opening being sufficient and allowed? was legal at northview. I don't see why the event supervisors at that regionals mandated a nose ...

Re: Times and sec/ft

Launcher inconsistencies is the biggest problem with this event. With one launcher, I use 10 psi and my rocket goes around 20 ft or so. At one of the invitationals I went too, I launched at 30 psi my first run and it went around 5 ft or so. I think next year there should be one or two launchers tha...

Re: Parachute Payload System

Or if the eraser was rounded that it was rounded? I wouldn't risk getting tiered because that rounded and blunt end of the pencil could fit inside the cap. Based on my interpretation the bottle opening is totally fine. The reason why the rounded pencil eraser wouldn't work is because it fits inside...

Re: Elastic Launched Glider B

Hi everyone, I haven't read through this forum so bear with me if I'm asking questions that has already been answered before. I have decided to help coach my district's middle school ELG team this year. I don't have much experience in specifically the ELG event but have some experience in the high s...
