Re: Ping Pong Parachute B/C

One rule that was being enforced at NJ states was the rule that said you can only launch a rocket if it had a log (implying you need a separate log for each rocket you bring) and they refused to let us use our second rocket. I reread the rules and can confirm that this is true, but has anyone had t...

Re: Ping Pong Parachute B/C

it's possible that there was a very high load on the ping pong ball which pulled really hard on the parachute into the tube, which could have cause the tear. If this is the case, then i'm not sure if there's anything you can do except use a stronger parachute material. maybe someone else has a bett...

Re: Nerd Inc. Launcher Problems

We had some issues with the green button falling off but not with the button not working. Our launcher doesn't have too many issues with launching low pressures either. We did have the launcher issue with the O-rings causing the rocket not to launch but lubricating with some chapstick worked fine.

Re: Ornithology B/C

Is it ok to have a modified list of birds in your binder that will not be detached at any moment throughout the competition? We need a table of contents for our fact sheets, but in the last invitational it was removed because it was considered modified even though we were not going to detach it fro...

Re: Herring Gull Taxon Change

The Herring Gull was split into the European and American Herring Gull in 2005, but it seems like the National Bird list is still referring to it as though they were one taxon, by not specifying which type of Herring Gull. Is the list wrong or am I deeply confused? Every scioly id list has sketchy ...

Re: Ornithology B/C

Has anyone bought the subscription to birdsna? Is it useful/worth it? I have it. It's ok. Honestly, some of it just doesn't seem useful. Like it's super dense and there's just soooo much. Also its just not great to read, like they use large words, and cite research papers. It's very wordy and hones...

Re: Game On B

I did the event last year and they do not. The only things you are allowed are a mouse (even that wasn't allowed at a certain competition I went to) and a pencil to draw/write ideas on scrap paper. They also allow you to bring headphones for sound testing. The rules actually state that you may brin...
