Re: Digital Structures B/C [mini SO, Satellite SO]

What's the highest score people have gotten without bugs? The best I can do is 3545.063. If anyone could tell me what they did, I'd appreciate it. It’s extremely variable because a boomilever that is shorter is going to outperform one that is longer. ^^^ This exactly. If we are talking about the lo...

Re: Boomilever B/C

Hey guys! So a problem I had last year (which I never got to solve because scioly was canceled) was that I wanted to keep the base of my boomi small so it fit the hook perfectly, but then I wasn't able to add any vertical members towards the end with the 8cm width requirement. Any suggestions on how...

Re: Boomilever B/C

Does the speed at which the sand is dispensed affect how well a boom does? Because I've always just assumed that if a boom can hold 15kg it will hold 15kg no matter what. Also if the bucket tilts it shouldn't matter, right?

Re: Boomilever B/C

Hi, I have a question if anyone can help us with. The base of our boomilever always comes from both the tension bars attach point. Its kind of glue failure. It does not break, the whole base pops out. Our whole boomilever stays intact most of the time, this is mostly our failure point. We have trie...

Re: Boomilever B/C

I've noticed some people talking about a trapezoidal design for the compression members. How would you put bracing on the sides of the trapezoid?

Re: Boomilever B/C

What are some good vertical members I should try. Right now I'm use 1/16x1/16 balsa, and my vertical members are bending/breaking at ~7-8kg. 1/16" square for main compression beams? That's kinda thin. I'd use at least 1/8" square for a modified tower chimney design, or 1/2" by 1/8&qu...

There is the option to have a narrow base with the end on the wall flaring out in a similar manner to the base of towers in 2018.
I just don't like the idea of have two parts on my boom. I feel like it would make it a lot weaker, but it is worth a try.

Re: Boomilever B/C

Any tips for the base. Since with 8cm width requirement the base that I used to use won't be viable anymore since I was using just a small piece of bass then laminating it. ( Used narrow booms last year )
