Re: Hands-on LEDs

Fleshing out our team's preparation for regionals -- what is a typical "Equally Bright LED" hands-on task? Is it as complicated as looking up luminance/current specs for totally different LEDs, or generally something more like using different voltage supplies and matching the current so that simila...

Re: dominoes

for the action with the dominoes, what counts as "commercial" size? I bought ones from the dollar tree but they are quite small, would those still count?? In the rules it also states the dominoes have to be standard, meaning 1-7/8" long by 15/16" wide by 1/4" thick. If the dominoes are not this siz...

If there is a touch on the Final Action and delivery system moves away 10 cm. Is final action is complete and is the bonus awarded?
No. Your timing is stopped when the golf ball touches the golf tee, but you lose credit for the final action and final action bonus. I might be wrong though, so Opinions expressed on this site are not official; the only place for official rules changes and FAQs is soinc.org.

Re: Scores

You could skip 4 tasks and still get 1500 can't you? Just trying to understand scores. The max possible is 1715 (assuming you could have a 60 second timer). But 1700+ could be possible? I am sure somebody has but fitting in all actions in a 30x30x30 would be pretty cool to see. Not mine though. Tha...

Re: Circuit Lab B/C

Has anyone seen the Thevenin & Norton equivalent circuits on any tests (div B)? It’s on the national list of topics, but I haven’t seen it on any tests (regionals, invys). Check out the Circuit Lab B test from the 2019 UT Invitational , which was written by windu34, ashernoel, and Roger Zhong! Also...

Hello,

Once the ball lands on the tee, should all actions on the device stop if can there be something like a motor or fan from previous actions still running?
Yes, you can have a fan running when your device stops.

Re: The competition: participant may designate a Timer

That's a great score! Do you know which team ? Solon was the 1st place team, with Watts and Baker in second and third respectively. If you want to see all of the placings from centerville, I tried to keep track of them here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1OMv4tz5tgvZpmg9WtKWwfYcj2w5jorC2JD...

Weights

Hi everyone, I recently had the privilege to go the the recent Centerville tournament, where I got to talk to the person who wrote the rules for mission possible. There I was told that the weights that I was using are illegal at nationals, since they were made of lead. I need to replace these weight...

Re: What is the average score in regional for middle school?

What is the average score in regional for middle school? My partner and I are wondering what is the average score, so we know what we should aim for and (hopefully) win. Thank you. Hi, I'm not really the best to answer this question, but I know a fair bit about mission possible. It really depends o...

Re: Action x: Fan to blow on a floating object

Finding something to float but strong enough to push something to cause the next action is tricky. So far, ping pongs work ok but they don’t initiate next action well. Foam works ok but not reliably since it moves left and right when floating across. Any suggestions?. I've done it using some foam i...
