Re: Boomilever B/C
I have read many of the posts, but I apologize, I do not have time to read through hundreds of pages. I am a non-engineer coach trying to help my kids improve their boomilevers. We have a nasic box compression made of 1/8 balsa, 1/8 bass tension. 3/32 bracing and trusses. The last few booms have fai...

Re: Boomilever B/C
Are you using a heavy duty glue such as Gorilla Glue or Titebond III? The distal end and the base are the two points where there is the most stress, so need to be reinforced the most. My advice would be to follow Aia's Boomilever Guide Wiki. If you don't really want to reinforce as much as shown in ...

Boomilever B/C
We tested three boomilvers yesterday and all failed at the distal end where the compression member was glued to the outside of the tension member. Design was same for all, so the consistency in building was at least encouraging, if not the premature failing. I've got brand new builders, amd boomilev...

Re: Rotor Egg Drop B
I have a question and a comment. When attaching the cup to your device, are you allowed to tape over the top of the cup so the egg doesn't fall out? I'm thinking not, but we have had a fair amount of eggs fall out of the cup and trying to prevent that. Secondly, I saw some suggestions that you have ...

Re: Rotor Egg Drop B
Thank you for your reply about the knex. I agree that there is no way to know how a supervisor will rule or judge. She thought the hub was an actual knex kit, not just pieces put together from knex -- my kid is a 6 foot five inch tall 7th grader and is pretty noncommunicative -- when i asked him if ...

Rotor Egg Drop B
My student is using a knex hub, attaching his rotors with knex sticks. He is preventing it from sliding down the balsa center stick via a piece of tape that prevents it from sliding down but not from rotating. It is only a white knex "star", nothing else -- is there any way this could be c...

Re: Ramp Task
Can a conveyor belt tilted upwards be used as the ramp and would objects travelling upward on it be considered to be pulled?
