Re: It's About Time C

It completely depends on how the coordinator interprets the rules and how seriously they take Science Olympiad. Most of our test at regionals was from a wikipedia article, but our test at state tested over a huge variety of time concepts, fact-based and mathematical. Prepare for everything.

Re: What kind of crazy hats/outfits do teams wear at Nats?

What about Indiana? Another state had corn covered last year, and the whole racing thing is just annoying. Any other suggestions?

Re: Indiana Science Olympiad

But like really almost half of the events were messed up. My health science test had stuff about the endocrine system and lymphatic system, when its supposed to be cardiovascular and skeletal. The tie-breaker was labeling the heart, which is what the test should be. Really if we took out all the ev...

Re: Indiana Science Olympiad

Why trajectory turned out the way it did... I heard that some of the teams who should have been put down to second tier weren't, and people who should have been on first were put down to second. At the end of the day, the results were so convoluted that the whole event was thrown out. However, that'...

Re: Indiana Science Olympiad

So the only high school going to nationals from Indiana is Bloomington North?
We'll see, based on how the appeal turns out.

Re: Indiana Science Olympiad

Congrats to Bloomington North! You guys better get at least top 10 at nats again. Or at least continue the VHSSO curse and get 11th. :P If you need any tests/resources in ecology or herp just ask since I have a ridiculous amount of stuff lying around on my computer. I was also very impressed with B...

Re: It's about time

I've been wondering-with the constraints given, do you think a pendulum without an escapement mechanism will last 5 minutes? Im inclined towards a no on that...I was also wondering about metronome-like devices, with a counter weight, but I doubt that will also hold up for a max of 5 minutes. This i...

Re: Loyalty I guess

As to the messing up, I mean that I had problems with a few events. My tower was damaged in transit and I did not repair it very well so it scored poorly. My Robo broke at the last second so my score went from finishing in 30-45 seconds to finishing in 2:30, I guess I still did OK though (I think l...

Re: Indiana Science Olympiad

Regionals weather? There are occasionally years with tons of snow and it seems like many years we have one or two big (over an inch) snowfalls and that's it. Northern Indiana probably gets hit harder. And to DarkDwarf-- wow, trying to find a sponsor in middle school after our old one moved away was ...
