Re: Scioly.org Monthly Event Challenges: Future Modifications

I’d love to see SMEC come back. I think it’d also help to have SMEC “quizzes” that are 15-25 min long, so that SMEC writers don’t have to commit to a full test in one month. This also makes it easier to get a full test, since actively finding a co-writer can be difficult. This way, people who only h...

Re: Scioly.org Superlatives 2021

Congrats everyone! Thought: Should we retire the Grammar Police superlative? I don't think there's anyone in the community who constantly corrects other people's grammar, right? When I won it I got really worried that people thought I was always correcting their grammar, then realized it was just be...

They both had good parts and not-good parts. I enjoyed both roughly equally.

TPBM can hear quiet sounds easily but has trouble understanding words when there's background noise.

I wish our school had windows.
Granted, but it's Windows Vista.

I wish next year's nationals could be in-person at no harm to any human beings and no teams unable to attend due to COVID restrictions.

Re: 9th Graders in Division B

I agree with the people arguing that 9th graders should be allowed to compete in Div. B or C. There's no inherent advantage to being a 9th grader over being in middle school unless you've been doing SciOly for more years; high school courses marginally help and the advantage is negated by the heavi...

Re: Prevention and Mitigation of Queerphobia

I think for some people, they might be supportive of LGBTQ+ (or at least tolerant of it) but have a negative gut reaction because it's something that contradicts the way they grew up learning how the world works. I can't know what's going on in their head, but to me, "it's unnatural" often...
