Re: Wheel Problems

Thanks for all the suggestions! Currently, my car travels at 1.8 m/s, give or take, so skid is an issue. The car has quite a bit of skid, albeit somewhat consistent. I usually will have the car set to brake 2 m early to account for it. It is still a good 30 cm off, but usually due to the fact that ...

Re: Wheel Problems

First, recognize that you cannot eliminate all wheel slip, and as you found out it varies from floor to floor depending upon the floor's coefficient of friction and its smoothness. Wheel slip also depends upon launch speed and tends to decrease as a vehicle slows down. In this discussion I'm talkin...

Re: Flight B/C

Where in the room should you stand when releasing your flight? I've been standing in weird locations and it's caused my flight to hit the walls D: B) If the model has a consistent left hand orbit, then assume your launch is at the outside point of a radius of a circle. You will launch such that the...

BobaTeaTastesGood, have your CF rods ever moved in transportation? Mine are friction fit but tightened with screws. Never had any issues. sneepity, isn't Fusion360 free? By woodshop I assume you mean use wood for the frame. Warning about this to people reading: wood is quite fiddly to use. It has a...

Re: Scrambler C

Yeah I definitely have to start building ASAP, got a month and change until competition but I've been too busy to start earlier sadly. I can probably find access to a 3D printer but I have no knowledge when it comes to that? Did you make the wheels yourself or did you find a print file online? Abou...

Re: Axle Materials

What material and size axles do you guys use? I've heard of people using carbon threaded axles, titanium axles, stainless steel-what are your opinions on those? I've also seen reports of 1/8" diameter axles bending. Currently using a 1/8" stainless steel axle. Hiii I personally think cf t...

Re: Bridge B/C

Sounds good! Yeah, I would 100% recommend creating some sort of jig for assembly, even with more simple designs like the non-tapered ones. "Back in the day" when I first started coaching, we'd make the jigs out of wood, but now with 3D printers, it's so much easier and way more accurate! ...

Re: Bridge B/C

Hey! yeah I was asking exactly about that- if the angle for the 4 major members matters as much :) I actually am very paranoid about that and I use a protractor and everything to make sure it's perfect, lol. Thanks though- and rewatching your video I love the idea behind the jig. Is it okay if I ma...
