Re: 2022 National Tournament: California Institute of Technology

Codebusters (7th): Probably one of the best tests I have ever taken, simply so much diversity in questions and we hit a pb in timed question. I usually struggle on online code tests but we got it all done perfectly, still mad about scrolling past an affine which probably got us 7th, but it is what ...

Re: Codebusters B/C

I may be doing something wrong, but I'm pretty sure the matrix is tell them matrix is not invertible, so its not solvable. My answer to the affine cipher: Plaintext: "This life is like a swimming pool. You dive into the water, but you can't see how deep it is." Here's a quote by Maya Angel...

Re: Codebusters B/C

Are we allowed to rip up our tests?
It's a lot easier to split up the test if just rip pages out. We place them back in order at the end, but will we get points off for doing it?

Re: Codebusters B/C

I think that the grading of all questions follows this format: After 2 mistakes, you will deduct 100 points for each following error. For example, let's say the word happy is worth 300 points, If you write "jazzy" that will be 3 mistakes therefore you subtract 100 points (3-2=1) and you wi...

Re: Codebusters B/C

iamonlydivisionbyoudummyheadidontknowwhataportais Oh wow, I entirely missed that, the lowercase text throws you off in alphabet ciphers. Also, porta is similar to vigenere, as both use a table. The mathematical way to solve porta is more difficult, but I can share the formulas with you. I am too B ...
