Re: Mousetrap Vehicle B

I need help making my car going the distance... I've read the wiki and so I've changed the lever arm's sizes. I made it lighter. What else can I try? Check the amount of friction the string has while the arm is pulling, this was the problem with the one I had originally and because the string was s...

Re: Mousetrap Vehicle B

Hey do you all prefer to use a rigid or slightly bendy rod? I feel like I am losing energy with the bendy rod that I used... Should make no significant difference, the rod when it bends is storing energy from the mousetraps that have been activated. Assuming that you use the full mousetraps energy ...

Re: Mousetrap Vehicle B

To add to the theme on which mousetraps are better in the long run if I remember correctly, it’s been almost a full two years, that while Tomcats lose their advantage in pulling power quickly at a point, I think 14-20 trials, that they level off and become just as consistent as Victors. Victors are ...

Re: Mousetrap Vehicle C

Yeah, I saw that winning run, and it was (I might be wrong) Plymouth Christian HS. They showed us their vehicle after their run was done. That’s good to see that other teams showing the vehicle to other teams after their done, this may be partly because this will not be a div c event next year. Tra...

Re: Michigan 2010-2011

Seriously, Grand Haven?! I mean, come on. REALLY?! But in all seriousness, congratulations to the teams that won. You earned it, and I really want West Ottawa to have an invitational again. I miss it dearly. I'm just happy with my fourth place WIDI :D I agree the WOSO inv was really helpful, but I ...

Re: Mousetrap Vehicle C

With a time of around 11 seconds, and a distance score <2cm, we got 4th at MI states. There was a really well built vehicle, and some characteristics I noted were a short pull arm and small wheels. There was a lot last year that had really small wheels, if the vehicle you are talking about was fast...

Re: Mousetrap Vehicle C

So I got my old teams team’s time down to the low 11 second rage and they can stop under 1cm on good runs [its very dependent on how the string is wound on the axel]. So that puts them around -6.6 for an expected state run, from other states is that top 6? At state last year there were teams that w...

Re: Michigan 2010-2011

6 days until state! Good luck to everyone! It's still weird not for me not being in science Olympiad after all theses years. Although I did help out my old school some in an event, now that I am more of a coach/advisor its a little easier to me because of the years of experience and knowing how suc...
