Re: Bottle Rocket B
I think he meant 40s for 2 launches. Depends on the state and timing of states. Late and competitive states will have a better time.

Re: Bottle Rocket B
My safe guess is 30s but maybe 25s for some. Combined time of course.

Re: Rotor Egg Drop B
What was the height? I bet it was over 10m so that would account for the times.

Re: Elastic Launched Glider C
The problem i see with one or the other is how low the bar should be for the bonus flights to be a reasonable bonus. It has to be low enough that any team that works at gliders can achieve. A great time is a drop of 1.2 seconds per foot. A good time is .9 At our state there were three teams at or a...

Re: Elastic Launched Glider C
The difficulty of a target time is that we have vastly different ability levels and physical locations (specifically ceiling sites) across the country. Many teams might not be capable of reaching a 5 second flight time at regional tournaments. If we set one time (or low range of times) for every ve...

Re: Elastic Launched Glider C
i was referring to how in maglev, they took the score of your vehicle, divided it by the best score, multiplied that by fifty and out popped your vehicle score. this meant that the highest possible score was 50, then we had a 50 point test on top of that. making the two about equal Okay, I get what...

Re: Elastic Launched Glider C
@chalker7 make flight scoring based upon things written in their log (predicted time exc.) or make the log worth more than or equal to the flight. the best way i've seen that was the maglev scoring for the vehicle score Hmm, Having done this event at states, regionals, and invitationals, I don't th...

Re: Proudest Moments
Got quite a few. 1. Getting 4 state medals (2 golds, 1 silver, 1 bronze) in 8th grade. I carried my team to 3rd in the state which was the first trophy we ever got. I say that because I did so well in my events while the team's average place was 10th. In addition, I fixed and rebuilt the scrambler w...

Re: MagLev C
Just wondering what is the normal stopping mechanism at the competitions? I know when this was done last year as a trial event in WI, there was nothing to stop it from going past the track. The best stopping mechanism was using a magnetic plate that curved up to catch the car. It caught our mag-lev ...
