Re: 2016 Gopher Science Olympiad Invitational

Hey, lets take a step back here. I want to extend a HUGE THANK YOU to the entire team of MN Scioly Alumni for putting on a great Science Olympiad Invitational tournament yesterday. As it sounded at the end of the day, the fire alarms were issues with the building at the U of M, not related to the SO...

Boyceville (WI) Invitational - 9th Annual

Everybody is invited to the 9th Annual Boyceville (WI) Science Olympiad Invitational on Saturday, December 5, 2015. I know that northwest Wisconsin is not everybody's choice of a prime location in December, but we pride ourselves on trying to create a fun, exciting, motivating, and challenging tourn...

Re: Wisconsin 2015

Awesome idea! I agree on the pie! They are a pretty small company though, but worth a shot.

By the way, they have restaurants in Osseo and Rice Lake, both of which are about one hour away from Menomonie (UW-Stout), and Osseo is right on I-94 from the south if you are driving...

Re: Crave the Wave B

First of all, thank you to all of you who competed in Crave the Wave this past weekend in Nebraska. I thoroughly enjoyed preparing, proctoring, and scoring the event and was very encouraged by the score distribution. Here are some GENERAL statistics (no information about specific teams will be relea...

Re: National test discussion

Hello, On Crave the Wave, I'll add some general statistics about the event forum thread. On your statement above, note that there was actually an entire station on boundary effects on waves, it was station 10 and involved making a graph. Many teams struggled with this activity. Also, for the person ...

Re: Scores B/C

Do keep in mind that many times people modify the lever-operated sand hopper to slow down the loading of the sand. Most hoppers I have seen take around 2 minutes to load all of the sand. The supervisor does this by limiting the flow of the sand from the hopper into the tube; this does tend to make i...

Re: MagLev C

Here is the information on Maglev from the National Tournament this past Saturday: Ideal Time: 5.0 seconds (this was picked at random by a student in the first time block from a stack of cards) There were 24 / 58 teams (2 NS) that had a time score of at least 20.0 points with a max time score of 24....

Re: Minnesota 2014

I, too, would like to extend a congratulations to Mounds View for their outstanding representation of their state and the greater Midwestern area. Congratulations on all of your hard work and success! On another note, and this is certainly less publicized but also highly exciting news, but I would a...

Great to hear that it worked, and judging by the pictures, it looks pretty good. Quick question...how tall are your side walls? I just can't tell too well in the images.

Re: Minnesota 2013

Answering a few questions/addressing some concerns: I'm a bit disappointed that they're only allowing three teams per school at River Falls this year - it means that a lot of our members won't be able to compete. The reason the UWRF invite is capping schools at three teams is to allow more schools t...
