Re: Optics B/C

We just needed to know how they work and what they look like in certain situations. But if you know how the refraction works, you can derive the rest of what you'd need to know. It was a question in a test that Bayard Rustin made for some invitationals.

Re: Optics B/C

You might be expected to know about stuff like that, but most likely you won't. It's up to the person writing the test. I've seen tests that went into the resolving power of a diffraction-limited lens, but for most of the tests I took the hardest topic was double rainbows. So unless you go to a hard...

Re: Optics B/C

Think of it this way. We know the universe is relative, right? The relationship between space and time has no static 0 point. That is, in space, you can never say what your absolute velocity is, only what it is relative to another object. So time cannot be universally quantized, because its value de...

Re: Robot Arm B/C [Trial]

I've never tried the arduino, but I hear they're pretty good. The reason why I used a basic stamp for JYC instead of an arduino is because the sales guy at parallax gave me a free sample (except for shipping) because I emailed them about my project. This was almost two years ago though, so don't cou...

Re: Robot Arm B/C [Trial]

I've used the BASIC stamp before. It is very simple to set up and program. You don't need to know anything about the memory organization or anything to use it. I used the BS1, which only had 14 bytes of user RAM, so for anything complex you'll need a BS2. The downside of using a BASIC stamp as oppos...

Re: You Know You're A Nerd When...

Ohhhhhh boy somebody please change the subject or this will start some sort of debate... Reminds me of in preschool when my friends and I were debating what the biggest number was. I thought it was a googol, but some other guy said that a googolplex is bigger. So then I thought of a googolplex-plex!...

Re: Funny Stories from Nationals

At the opening ceremony, we were all getting a little bored and not paying to much attention. suddenly this guy with a trike turns into the isle in front of me. I start to wonder what is going on, and then I am suddenly getting blasted with fire extinguishers! It was scary at first, but it was kind...

Re: 2011-2012 Events

About "gravity vehicle": you never know, since NY always changes the events a bit. It's possible that this is straight from the national comities, but it's also possible it's just from NY.
