Re: Texas 2010

Don't forget about NYOS, we're not the best team in the competition. However we are steadily increasing, year by year. I think a top ten contender.

Re: Picture This C

I disagree with your interpretation of the rules, rndm - You definitely can do that. You're right in that it does have to relate to the term, but the rules just say that "all other symbols must represent the word(s) given," and I'd say a pair of jeans quite clearly represents the word jeans in a lo...

Re: Picture This C

Nonscientific pictures are totally allowed; in fact, sometimes they work better than the actual picture. You can draw a pair of jeans for "genes".
I'm not sure if you were intending sarcasm, but you definitely cannot do that. The pictures HAVE TO relate to the term.

Re: Trajectory B/C

Oh yeah, sorry, it's a magnetic release. Otherwise I would be Tier 2-ed in a second. The diameter of the magnet is about 2" or 1.5", there are picture of it on the website. Although they are before I made a change to the design. All of it fits nicely under the 60 cm cube by an inch or two on one sid...

Re: Trajectory B/C

It's actually really strong, you just need two 6v or 1 12v batteries. There is not that much that can go wrong honestly, it is really smooth and quick. It launches over 10m, and quickly and smoothly launches consistently with no problem. I don't have to deal with the cruddy human error most other pe...

Re: Trajectory B/C

Yeah, I worry about my partner accidentally setting it off, so I am very strict at competitions and make sure he does everything right. I do NOT want to get disqualified or get penalty points at ANY competition, and I am very careful that we don't. No checklist, but I always do my own check on the ...

Re: Texas 2010

To be honest I think most of it is solely hard work and dedication. That number of people that are that smart is only a small part of the population of SciO. Although I know some teams study for weeks, while people cram the night before competition, and beat the other teams.

Re: Texas 2010

It also looks like that four or three of the top teams from the Dallas regional will qualify for state. We will find out at who will exactly will go to state on Northlake's website on April 1st by the way. I am just really psyched about my team, I never expected the place we got. We are all in disbe...

Re: Texas 2010

Also it can be up to two international teams going to state at C division. Did Conally even qualify for state? I saw them at Hutto Invitationals, not too impressive to be honest.
