Re: Remote Sensing C

A quick tip: I've found that if you size your text right, you don't NEED 5 pages front and back. Instead, my teammate and I reserved one of the pages for a sheet of graph paper. Yep. Small text is your friend. What sorts of information are you putting on your cheat sheet? I can't imagine putting to...

Re: Physics Lab B/C

Forgive me if this has already been mentioned, but are strudents allowed to use mini-disks for PSL this year? I know they can modify a regular CD (except for the center hole) any way they want, but are mini disks allowed? Mini CDs (80mm diameter instead of 120mm) are allowed. As long as it still ha...

Re: Elevated Bridge B/C

Now, I have a question: When I sand my pieces flush, the middle sometimes sticks out a little; maybe 1/64 or 1/32. Is there any technique you can use to stop this, besides from being a robot that can sand perfectly (which we all aspire to be). Why are you sanding in the first place. It decreases st...

Re: Elevated Bridge B/C

My bridge of 8 grams held a decent amount to get me an efficiency of over 600. Unfortunately, the rope stretched and the bucket touched the ground at 600 efficiency, and when i released the pressure, two members broke. But i'm pretty happy with my design and bridge. Regionals is on Saturday! So i'm...

Re: Remote Sensing C

I've taken a couple practice tests. I got 50% of the one, which isn't bad, considering my sister got 50% at regionals and won (against Oak Ridge, national champs). Of course, the test was probably a lot easier. I was still unsure what to study afterwards. It's a broad subject! A lot of the test was...

Re: Remote Sensing C

Hey all, My regionals is Saturday, so i'm beginning to prepare my 10 pages (5 double sided sheets) of information. This is not my primary event, nor is it my partner's primary event. We are just going in to try our best. I really have no clue what I should be putting on my sheets. We dont seem to h...

Re: Elevated Bridge B/C

I just got back form a tournament and my bridge held 39.2 pounds and weighed 30.17 grams. I had thought that the maxim load was 15 kg. Does that mean that they only counted 15kg for my load? Yeah. The good news is that holding too much weight means your bridge was way overengineered, so you probabl...

Re: Physics Lab B/C

What material did you guys use and how did you attach the blade to the CD? I'm not doing the event anymore (the guys on our other team were consistently beating me). I just made one turbine, but I used old styrofoam plates and hot glue (don't worry, it won't melt the plates). EDIT: I propped up one...
