Re: Texas 2013

It looks like Clements got First, and Seven Lakes got the number two spot for texas. This is new. Yes, very new indeed. Everyone was expecting Texas to have two nationally competitive teams this year, but now we have three. And not to brag or anything but we still walked away with the biggest troph...

Re: Keep the Heat B/Thermodynamics C

Does anyone know if we can use tinfoil in our keep the heat boxes? I saw a whole bunch of teams with it or some other reflective stuff at regionals. I think it might help me if I could use it. Seriously, do we need to have a sticky about this? Look in the rules and the rest if this thread, the answ...

Re: Keep the Heat B/Thermodynamics C

Dear Chalker, Here is a true ambiguous and undefined rule. How do the event supervisor measure the temperature? Last year at LA county and South Cal they measured the temp inside the cattle and then poured the water into beakers, which seemed to be very logical. Today at South Cal they pour some am...

Re: Keep the Heat B/Thermodynamics C

Ok, I think I found what you are talking about: Thermal Time Constant In order to calculate the time constant you will need to know a few easily measurable factors, and then the Heat Transfer Coefficient . However the heat transfer coefficient is very complex and difficult to calculate accurately. A...

As I understand it, not all questions are posted. Only repeated questions, hence FAQ, or important/widespread-problem questions are posted.

Re: Texas 2013

I don't know why all you CyWoods people are placing yourself so high. Because if you look at past invitational rankings CyFall, Kingwood, Clements, and Katy has ranked better than you in more invitationals. Also Austin Area Homeschoolers and Westwood are pretty good too. So I am not trying to sound...

Re: Keep the Heat B/Thermodynamics C

i was wondering if shrink wrap is allowed, and also what types of fiber glass was permitted in the box. also can we use duck tape on the inside of the box as well? Look back through the thread, there was a discussion about fiberglass. As for shrink wrap and duck tape, the rules don't say anything a...
