Re: Forestry B/C

Oh, I see. Thanks. :/ But, we don't even have an event supervisor yet. :( And our competition is on March 24th... So, is there something I can assume?

Re: Forestry B/C

Oh, I see. Thanks guys! So, should I assume that the majority of the IDing will be through pictures? Since I doubt that our regionals will be able to find specimen for the whole list? Cuz, our regional director is pretty lazy...

Re: Forestry B/C

Hey guys, just to clarify, when you say "scales" you're referring to the lines on the plant that are kind of like the fingerprint on our hands, right? Also, in NorCal, we don't have a tree list. :| So, should we try to learn EVERY SINGLE TREE on the national tree list, but focus more on the trees in...

Re: Designs

Thanks Balsa! That was extremely helpful. :) And, as to whether to use a tower or not more than once... I think it really depends on the design. :( I've found that it really depends on the quality of the tower you've made. There have been times in the past in which my team, in the past, have made br...

Re: Designs

Hi guys! I was wondering, what do you think the strengths/weaknesses there would be with a square base or a rectangle base? Because I've been trying to figure out which would be more efficient, but I can't seem to determine it with my team. =/ Sorry if this is an ignorant question. Thanks for your h...

Re: Designs

I also recall reading on a post last year that a three legged and four legged tower would be about the same weight. (Since the supports/braces would be longer for a 3 legged tower) So, I think it's better not to go through all the stress of trying to get perfect 60 degrees.

Re: General Discussion

Someone posted rules online, illegally that is. I would just use the rules that your coach will get in order to stay out of any issues/conflicts. Better safe than sorry.

Re: Forestry B/C

So, I was wondering.... the field guide for Forestry sold by the SO company... when it says "East" or "West." Would it be ideal to purchase both of them? Or just one of them depending on where we live?

I heard, in the beginning, that a lightbulb system might work. The only issue is, it's probably not sensitive enough...

Re: Designs

Always four! :D (Assuming nothing in the rules changes drastically) I've always just found getting a three-legged design too difficult. The chances of getting it perfect is just not enough for me. =/ And the amount of time it would take to make just one is a pain compared to those with four legs. (I...
