### Re: Designs

Well, I wasn't actually in it for losing mass with the glue. Because, my teacher was explaining to me how the joints were super strong, and that they are actual more efficient than with actual glue.

### Re: Mousetrap Vehicle C

What kinds of times/scores are you guys getting? I have a 9.2 second car that weighs 140 grams and pushes the cup to within 5 cm of the 3 m line (I haven't really looked at the -4m distance score yet since that's more of a problem) How did you get it to only 140 grams? I'm looking at 370ish grams o...

### Re: Balsa or Bass

I don't have much experience with this event, but I think that a combination is the best. Maybe using bass (along the grain) for the serious stress points, and then using balsa as supports against twisting and distributing weight? I tried breaking some quarter inch bass and it had incredible streng...

### Re: Designs

So, I was talking with my coach, and he told me a story on how the Japanese design houses without using a single screw or glue or anything. So, I was thinking, making a tower without glue at the joints? (The ones connecting the base with the "chimney", NOT the supports) Crazy idea? Or do you guys th...

### Re: Technical Problem Solving C

Hey guys, does anyone know where to find a list of "practice problems" for this event? Because I saw the event for Nats2010, but I don't think I'd be able to recreate that for my team. How do you guys prepare for this event? Because, at my school we're trying to recreate scenarios at comp. but I can...

### Re: Experimental Design B/C

Ok, thanks, also does anyone notice if there's a pattern as to what subject the experiment is on? Because, I know you guys said that it is usually Physics? Thanks

### Re: Experimental Design B/C

Hey guys, I was wondering, for the 2011 rubric for Exp. Des. is it the same every year? Or does it change. Because, we're making pop-quizzes for our team, but we're not sure if we should use that rubric or not. Thanks!

### Re: Sounds of Music C

Hmm, maybe you should try carving s mouthpiece out of plastic? Sorry if this is a bad idea, I'm not much of a brass player. Also, I was wondering if anyone knew about the duet. Can we write the duet? And if we write the piece, will we get extra points or something? Thanks for your help. Sorry if my ...
