I don't think so...both are the same except for sugar vs. aspartame. Both solutes should be relatively nonacidic, so I'm guessing the only observable difference between them is the following, though I'm not sure if you could determine this based on what was given... http://www.elmhurst.edu/~chm/vch...

Sometimes you can have problems doing iodine test with cornstarch. Make sure the concentration of cornstarch in the test tube is high enough, otherwise it may not change color. This happened to my partner during invitationals.

Hello--does anyone have practice tests that they can upload? So far I have 2 practice tests but I'm mainly using the practice test as a good tool to study.

National level questions are fair game in invitationals I think but not in regionals or states. However, some questions are marked as "state/national" so are not supposed be on regional but any other competition is fair game. You should always study more diseases than listed because event supervisors often make tests that don't exactly follow the rules packet. For example, Tay Sachs disease was on the invitational test that I took on Saturday and that's a genetic disorder (I believe) which is not transmitted by microbes ...

You also might have to know/identify microbiology lab equipment and its function, such as the inoculation loop.
