Re: Will/Did you make it to nationals?

Only after we realized that we were moving on to states did we start having meetings more than on Monday and Tuesday and because the teacher's have meetings on Thursday we moved to Wednesday and the schedule kept changing. I think mostly everyone on my team did more studying on my team the week befo...

Re: Awesome Aquifers B

It really helped me in my presentation to show that I really, truely understand the vocab words. I just explained the concepts using an extensive knowledge of the vocab words to impress the judge and managed 4th place at NY States even though the model that we built was nothing but a layer of sand, ...

Re: Will/Did you make it to nationals?

I wish my team could have had a whole lot more practices and some time to actually test our stuff before going there. We dominated NYC Regionals but were dominated by the rest of NY at states. Maybe that can change next year but I don't think it will considering that we only have meetings for an hou...

Re: New York 2011

My team built a bottle rocket very soon before the state competition and had never tested it at all. One person built it and had used super glue which lead to a construction violation as it interfered with the chemical composition of the plastic but we were allowed to launch anyway as the person who...

Re: New York 2011

When are the Invitationals for New York or New York City? I think that it would really help my team to go to Invitationals and because I'm not going to Nationals I feel that all my studying is in vein and can't wait for Regionals next year but I've never heard of Invitationals before. I'd be exited ...

Re: Compute This B

Anyone doing Compute and Meteorology this year? If so, does it help in any way? I feel that these events help each other... I think it really depends if you'd be asked to find some random statistic about some hurricane or tornado or something broader like how some aspect of the weather works, etc. ...

Re: Meteorology B

My team's coach gave us a lot of isobar handouts with some pressure readings and we were told to draw the isobars in and identify the high and low pressure systems. I've spent a considerable amount of time taking these tests as they are simple once you get started but are still time consuming. Has a...

Re: Bottle Rocket B

Does anybody have advice for a newcomer? The state competition is next weekend and all that my team has is two carbonated beverage bottles that meet the qualifications. I'm uncertain of what materials should be used for the fins and I'm gonna attempt to create a backsliding rocket in the short amoun...
