Re: Letter to the New York Director

I sent a news tip in to WABC, interesting to see if they follow up on it. But there was a news story on a Long Island website that I linked earlier in this thread that makes Miller already look bad, so honestly, I don't know how effective outside coverage could be. Though undoubtedly the national o...

Re: New York 2014

Mr. Boyd, first off thank you for the service that you have done for the NYSSO community. While I am not involved in any way with New York Science Olympiad, it is evident with participation in the state and the general enthusiasm of friends in Science Olympiad that I have made over the years that yo...

Re: Letter to the New York Director

Usually, I don't like stirring up controversy but, after reading this article, Mr. Miller's lackluster response to why he called the wrong coach really just doesn't pass. I don't want to flame the guy, but his response is simply unprofessional. Miller, in an email Tuesday night, said Ward Melville's...

Re: Letter to the New York Director

Looks good to me. If they want real names as well, I wouldn't be opposed to that either.

Re: New York 2014

The weight is the same - it's a human being against this ruling. However, it's easier to verify that a username is a person. In a case that you're describing, there's no way to do a petition. That's just counterproductive. This is much better than any other option that's reasonable for maximum part...

Re: Letter to the New York Director

Another thing we have to consider is that unlike high school sports, where there are specific people who are coaches or athletic directors whose only responsibility is sports, with Science Olympiad, there is no "SciOly Director" in schools. Therefore, there is no one to be held "responsible" in that...

Re: New York 2014

Don't know how productive this could be, but talking to National Adminstrative people in conjuction with sending letters or a collective letter to the NYS people could be useful in putting pressure. While we are a small community, in comparison to the whole of Science Olympiad putting pressure from ...

Re: New York 2014

You guys have paperwork for States? In MN, you have to decline your spot not to go... Yes you have to send in a sheet and the registration fee. So you send in the registration fee after you compete at Regionals? Aren't these usually paid before the entire season starts in the first place? This is r...
