Re: Summer SO Preperation

I generally use the summer to rest, not do SO. That's what the school year is for. Summer is for things you don't have time for during school, like SO. School year is for school. Relaxation is not necessary. Exactly, when I'm not working over the summer I just end up doing random stuff and get less...

Re: Greatest Number Ever (73)

If we assume that 73 is the greatest number ever, then it follows that there exists no number n such that n > 73 . Now, without loss of generality, consider the number 85. 85 > 73 is evidently true, and so there is at least one number which is greater than 73. Thus our assumption is incorrect, and ...

Re: 2011-2012 Events

I don't think it will be Gravity Vehicle, almost all other sources are saying wheeled vehicle, but back in B we would do "Picture This" in regionals and state even though the national event was "Compute This." So it is possible that the state may do it, but not Nationals. Also, I...

Re: Greatest Number Ever (73)

And what I meant were numbers that are rational, you say you love E or you love pi, but to be honest you don't even know what the number is, if I ask what pi is, you can only tell me 1/infinite of the number. You're wrong. I can tell you that pi is: 4-4/3+4/5-4/7+4/9-4/11...+(-1)^(n-1) * 4/(2n-1)+....

Re: Japan Joining Science Olympiad?

A lot of you guys keep saying the internationals would be hard to manage. But I don't think you realize that there are over ten international competitions for high school. Also, your problem is that it'd be too hard to get too. But you forget, YOU'RE NOT GOING, Solon is...there'd still be a National...

Re: Greatest Number Ever (73)

Yes, but Big Bang Theory only brushed the surface. I HATE the comments that say a number is good because you keep seeing it... I see the number 1 everywhere, actually I must see it about 20 times a day. In fact, most of society runs off the number 1. So if you like the numbers that show up alot why ...

Greatest Number Ever (73)

Hey everyone, just wanted to put it out there that 73 is by far the greatest number, and here's why; 73 is the largest minimal Primitive root in the first 100000 primes. 73 is the smallest prime congruent to 1 modulo 24. The mirror of 73, the 21st prime number, 37, is the 12th prime number. The numb...

When you see inaccurate data in Journals posted about Epidemiology, so you send some emails pointing out how some people at CDC did some wrong calculations...

Re: Japan Joining Science Olympiad?

Sorry if this question was answered earlier. But is it just the ambassadors coming, or is the actual teams? Also not every kid from Japan I'm sure knows English... Hey, what happened was this year the ambassadors came, in prospect about whether or not to send Japanese teams in future years. Also, a...

Re: Summer SO Preperation

Forensics; You guys didn't already have mixtures? In Science Crime Busters, in middle school, we had mixtures, even at Regionals... It was by far the hardest part. I believe mixtures were in the rules a few years ago, then they replaced it with water testing (fml) and they cut that this year. But I...

Re: Japan Joining Science Olympiad?

I'm all for the intergalactic competition. That would really run nice. And if we figure how to bend the space time fabric, not only would we be able to compete with other galaxies, we could compete with past humans and past intergalactic beings. And if we manage to reproduce and project our imaginat...

You know Science Olympiad is getting to you when...?

Hey everyone,

I spend hours on end on Science Olympiad, and I realized it was getting to me, when I started having elaborate dreams about my events, and had to fight off microbes using trebuchets...

How do you know when Science Olympiad is getting to you?
