Re: North California 2013

If Franklin of Stockton didn't make states (Sorry)... Franklin of Elk Grove needs to keep the states streak from a Franklin High School going. Looking forward to regionals on the 16th :)

Re: Technical Problem Solving C

At some regionals the topics aren't just limited to the rules...

I ended up getting a density problem (was the easiest) but also a circuit problem w/ a multimeter before either teammate learned about it in physics... Just putting it out there that it may be different than just these limited topics.

Re: Shock Value B/Circuit Lab C

I ran into this problem at county: You have a multimeter, a 1.5 volt battery, a 1 microfarad capacitor, and wire. You need to find the internal resistance of the multimeter. How would you do it? I am having some trouble figuring it out. (People in Shock Value will probably not know what this is, th...

Re: How Many Teams?

It's been 1 team every year except last year... Guess what happened when we went 2 teams? 14th place overall at regionals when we had somewhere in the top 4 streak at states every year before.

Re: Shock Value B/Circuit Lab C

I'm not technically sure if you can measure the current of that circuit... Without taking it apart... Was there a way to determine the resistance of the potentiometer such as a maximum and a minimum resistance? Then you can do your circuit analysis techniques :) Or I'd do voltage division if that t...

Re: Shock Value B/Circuit Lab C

For those who would like another resource, All About Circuits is a great site where they provide free textbooks for circuitry. It teaches you everything from basic concepts of voltage and current, series/parallel, kirchoff's, network analysis, capacitors and beyond. The one potential downside is th...

Re: Where are you going for colleges?

California State University Sacramento! Chances are, I can finish my GE in so called "sophomore" (1st year) thanks to AP generosity, or at least the 3 non-math/science courses left in the GE. Yeah, people say I can do better, but lets see who finishes college first, with the least debt, and land a j...

Circuit Lab:
The studying is like doing a math competition for a higher math level and still placing first.
No mercy, nothing below perfection (dumb mistakes are frowned upon) if there is sufficient time to complete the test/lab.
