Assuming the lever is not touching the object, but say a rod is stick is the one 'lifting' the object. My question is, does the rod have to be in contact with the object the whole way until it comes into a complete stop?

Third class lever

Hello there! My coach submitted a rules clarification but in general, what do you guys think of the word...LIFT in the rules? Does the object have to be in contact with the 3rd class lever the whole time? Please share your thoughts and thanks! :)
