Hello everyone. Islip High School on Long Island is hosting its C division invitational on Saturday, December 13, 2014. We are looking to have approximately 33 teams compete at the tournament. We are starting an hour later than last year (8am) to allow teams more travel time, and we plan on completi...

Re: New Jersey 2014

As an FYI, we held a Division C invitational on Long Island last year, and we intend to hold it again next year in December. The preliminary date is December 13th. The location might have to change to another district on the island as our school is set to start a capital building project in the upco...

Re: New York 2014

"Yep thanks! I have to say whatever happens I hope my team is fairly proud of the effort we pulled off, we had to deal with A LOT. Most outside our region wouldn't know, but our coach got into an accident before winter break (thankfully he's okay but still recovering :/), the school stopped letting...

Re: New York 2014

IL, OH, NY, and CA are all very strong, competitive states at Nationals. There are many competitive regions within multiple states that participate in Science Olympiad and very good teams within those regions. That being said, I think it's a little useless trying to rate teams, regions, or states. ...

Re: New York 2014

I mean I think there are at least multiple schools that can have a competitive spot. The Ohio thing I think some people tried arguing it depends on how you define it and etc etc like YUSO said. My point wasn't to point them out just to say that competitiveness is subjective and not much point to ar...

Re: New York 2014

I think as of right now, there isn't really a debate as to which state is the most competitive at the national level: Ohio. The past 5 years in C division and the past 6 years in B division have gone to either Solon or Centreville. New York has more teams competing at States (40 vs 54), but just lo...

Re: New York 2014

But having more teams adds to the number of teams that do qualify from that state. Those teams (6th/7th/etc. place qualifying for states) will most likely bring the results of the region down. At least, that's what I'm thinking. That's correct, except LH has consistently sent only 4 teams to states...
