Re: Geologic Mapping C Question Marathon

I thought I'd do an easier, multi-part mapping question: The map below depicts an outcrop of quartzite. Is there a fold in the image? How do you know? If so, identify it (antiform/synform), and mark the hinge line and axial trace (either draw it on and re-upload the image or just describe the path o...

I got the same answer (233.13, to be more precise). Time for another question?

Re: Heredity B/Designer Genes C

Another question: will the nationals test feature the chemical composition of enzymes? How about the make up of protein complexes?

Re: Heredity B/Designer Genes C

Will the nationals test feature transposons, microsatellites (outside of DNA fingerprinting questions), etc? They're really cool, but don't really fit under any of the categories on the rulesheet (maybe mutations or DNA replication?)

Re: Ask a question to the person below you.

Yes, extremely so.
Have you, or do you know of anyone who has, placed higher at Nationals than at States in SciOly?

Re: Ask a question to the person below you.

Quite competitive at state level (so much that there is little effective competition :)) but not so much so at nationals...
How many total hours do you spend on SciOly over the course of a year?

Re: Geologic Mapping C

We (I'm his partner) were wondering how one finds the geologic feature (antiform/synform) given only the dip symbol (the t-shape thing with a number by it). For example, how does one do 12A on this test:http://www.soinc.org/sites/default/file ... 20Exam.pdf
