Re: Electric Vehicle C

Here is my Electric Vehicle as well as the steering mechanism I used: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pKC8MYRgflI&feature=youtu.be I highly recommend using the caliper steering method as it has worked very well for me and others that have used it, with the top 3 vehicles at MIT invitationals using t...

Re: Pictures, Videos, and Scores

Double digit negative, while impressive, imo is nowhere near as difficult as successfully knocking the cans apart and keeping a good distance score. 3 sec, 4 cm off, and 25 cm bonus is enough for double digit (which, I agree is difficult, but I'd expect to see several of these at Nationals). Severa...

Re: Pictures, Videos, and Scores

Ah ok. I assume they have a backup plan? (have you seen how much they can score without knocking them?) I believe mentor is capable of double digit negative scores even without knocking the cans apart, so they are way ahead of us (me at least for sure). Double digit negative, while impressive, imo ...

Re: Single Bladed Rotor FAQ Response

Bazinga Having judged this event several years ago when it was division B with similar rules defining bonus for single blades, this issue came up and was clarified. Read the FAQ. It is very clear. The intent, and the challenge, is that rotors be directly driven by the rubber motor. Again, read the ...

Re: New York 2017

Towers 3rd was 1750. And top 2 were 2959 and 2550 I believe that there was only one negative score for EV and I had a score of around 5 for my EV and placed 4th so i guess that puts the rest of the scores into perspective Seriously? Only one negative score? I expected many more considering that we ...

Re: Single Bladed Rotor FAQ Response

Students and especially Event Supervisors should be sure to read the recently posted FAQ response that clarifies this bonus. A single blade mounted on a stick that has a free wheeling rotor on each end of the stick does not meet the definition of a rotor and does not qualify for the bonus. Read the...

Re: Helicopter Flight Times

I break 3 minutes with a 2.07 gram helicopter, once i add clay to make it 2.5 grams and without adjusting the rubber sizes i still break 2:30. This is on around a 5-6 meter ceiling. I was able to break 2:07 on a 2 meter ceiling and 2:30 on a 5-6 meter ceiling, not counting the one single-bladed bon...

Re: Robot Arm C

I have just finished editing a short video of our 2017 Robot Arm running through its program. The arm basically moves in the x,y plane only with a hand that can "pinch" the stacks of pennies, flip them, and eject them one at a time. This design finished 2nd at the Wright State Invitational but has ...
