Re: MIT Invitational

Oh, no, I assumed the difference was 2 points because I figured that it'd be somewhat close, the more leeway you allow the larger the potential max score is (although I would put the difference at no more than 5) Well, I already got 35 on the test... The 39 is because we're guessing that the scores...

Re: MIT Invitational

does anyone happen to know the raw scores for hovercraft?
I messaged the supervisor for the event (he made a spreadsheet of all the test/device scores). He might or might not update soon.

Re: MIT Invitational

5. LASA (55th in WIDI?)
This happened due to a snafu in their printed schedule, which made them show up late to WIDI

Re: MIT Invitational

Any idea what the top score for hovercraft test portion was? By my calculations from comparing our two teams, I think it's 35 which is what we got on the test. Is there any other score higher than this? That moment when you have perfect mass score but your hovercraft is still too fast and gets dest...

Re: Optics B/C

Under 2b it says "Competitors may bring any measuring tools, premade templates, writing utensils and any type of calculators for use during any part of the competition." I interpreted this as things other than the binder, since 2a states that as "reference material," whereas 2b lists other things. ...

Re: Optics B/C

hi, on the rules it talks about reference materials needing to be secured in a 3 ring binder these reference materials can be used during both the written portion and the laser shoot part, right? Surprisingly the rules never explicitly state that the binder can be used during all parts of the compe...

Re: Optics B/C

I keep getting 2.56 x 10^6 Hz but the test key says the answer is 3.1225 x 10^7 Hz. Using hyperphysics and wolframalpha, I got 3.12*10^7 Hz if the spaceship moves towards the asteroid, rather than away from it - this follows common sense, as redshifting would lower frequency, whereas blueshifting w...

Re: MIT Invitational

Hard to know where to place them tbh. Solid teams for sure though. I don't understand the hype for clements - they start the season strong, but are quickly surpassed by SL and LASA. Assuming everyone is bringing stacked teams, I don't see how clements will be in the top 10 this year with the insane...

Re: MIT Invitational

Usually I'd agree, but I'm leaning towards following the trend from Beckendorff (and windu assuming we're thinking of the same person, he's still around). I don't really know about Clements, but Beckendorff has been good for quite a while now (and unfortunately, Kealing hasn't been that great) but ...
