Re: Poorly Run Event Stories

There were only 17 stations, with 14 having specimens to identify and most answers were a few word answers (originally I had 15 but had to add 2 more because there are 17 teams per block). And you had 2.5 minutes to complete each station. 10% is approximately 1 question per station (some had more). ...

Re: Poorly Run Event Stories

Yesterday, at SOUP Invitational, the room setup for the different events was inconvenient, which can be understandable due to the amount of space given within the college. However, the herpetology exam I took yesterday wasn’t only poorly run, but the test was a poor representation of the event itse...

Re: MIT Invitational 2018

If I were not too tired to do anything after the tournament This is a key point - running a tournament is tiring at all levels, more so for the planning committee and directors. They pull so many all nighters the week of MIT it's crazy and without the planning committee, events like Rocks, Forensic...

Re: MIT Invitational 2018

Finally, a question to anyone that helped write the MIT tests, would anybody else be open to answering questions like with Rocks? I know myself and many others on my team have questions about material that couldn't be answered by resources through our school (such as imaging on Remote). Yes, anyone...

Re: MIT Invitational 2018

Rocks was god-tier and I wish every test was like that Thank you for your kind words! Please tell Cole that I'm glad he enjoyed the exam and we appreciated his kind words on the answer sheet. :) I liked the test (granted I did well on it so I'm a bit biased). My biggest struggle on the test was tim...

Re: MIT Invitational 2018

Wait, does anyone have raw scores for events right now? MIT does not release raw scores. People are just posting the points they received on their tests (which they do get back). Anyone in rocks want to post (Harriton and Mason in particular)? What did you think of the rocks exam (I know I asked on...

Re: MIT Invitational 2018

Can’t people photoshop out the watermark if they really care? that R&M answer sheet would particularly be a pain to go through if one really wanted to try to On another note, I’ve kinda been awaiting some spicy event ratings, would anyone like to start? Can confirm that it's 10/10 not worth it to r...

Re: MIT Invitational 2018

17. Clements (tend to underperform at MIT) I'd be shocked if Clements is anything worse than 7th-8th; they're coming off a 6th place finish at nationals. Yeah I have to agree. Plus you say "underperform at MIT" when they got 6th one year and then the next year weren't in the Top 10 (which was due t...

MIT 2017 and 2016. These were hard, well-written and you had to know the material very well to medal.

Re: Herpetology B/C

I noticed that it says "or" rather than "and" in reference to a binder and field guide. In previous taxonomy competitions I believe both have been allowed simultaneously; teams would be allowed to have a binder AND a field guide. Why the change? I'm guessing the national committee wants to change t...
