Re: Herpetology B/C

Also Wikipedia Is Wikipedia a super rel able resource though? *reliable It definitely is to a degree, wiki has a bad reputation but it has gotten a lot more reliable in the past couple years. I used it as a last resort for some information but I always starred the information or put it into italics...

Re: Fossils B/C

I had a question regarding the molars of mesohippus. It has 12 molars on each on each half of the jaw meaning that it would have 24 total... right? I took a test that said it had only 12. Is the key wrong or am I missing something? http://www.equestrianandhorse.com/equus/evolution.html says 6 per s...

Re: Herpetology B/C

We are having a little trouble with fact sheets? Where can we find information? How much do we need? What websites should we use? Do they have to be only for our state for "where they are found" or all of the country? You use various sources, ie: Wiki, Field Guides and various websites, here are so...

Re: Fossils B/C

Hi everyone I have not started studying for this event. ( ) The competition for me is on February 9th. Is there any good tips how I can cramp in as much information I need? Thanks in advance. I really need it. Well... it is a binder event so you don't need to cram it all into your head, but...

1. Troy 2. Solon (pending future results, might move them up) 3. Mounds View (pay attention) 4. Mason/Centerville (even odds on either in my opinion) 5. Acton-Boxborough 6. Harriton 7. Clements (2 places lower if Seven Lakes, 4 places lower if LASA) 8. Mira Loma 9. Boca Raton 10. Columbia 11. WW-P ...

Also use the wiki but not for the info on there but check the sources at the bottom of the page.

Re: Herpetology B/C

Hello, I was wondering how much trivia we would need to know for each order and genus, or if it's even relevant at all. Thanks Last year some notable ones I saw over and over were state reptiles/amphibians, locations of interest (ie blind salamanders in Texas), venom facts, defense mechanisms and u...

Re: Fossils B/C

When being asked to identify an organism's geologic time frame, how specific do you need to be? For example, nummulites can be said to be Cenozoic, Paleogene and Neocene, and Eocene to Miocene (some sources even have it going to a more specific range). This is often a grey area (pretty similar to t...

Re: Fossils B/C

Hello! This is the first time I have done this event. Currently, all we are doing is paraphrasing what comes off of the internet. We are just starting to put pictures on there. I have 3 questions: Is there something that we should be doing different? How many pages will we be able to take, if any? ...
