Re: Number of events

this past year i had 7 events (but i had 8 at one invite... but that was way too hectic of a day for me  ) i've never had less than 3, but the more the better, i always seem to perform better with more events. next year i plan to have 6 or 7 again.

Re: Elevated Bridge 2009

I've thought about arching balsa... but it seems very difficult. To get a perfect arch, the balsa would have to be the same density throughout the stick, then multiply that by two for each side. When a friend of mine was competing in gliders, she told me that she baked the balsa somehow to get the ...

Re: Elevated Bridge 2009

haha.. i wish you could "exchange" it... my division B coach always bought big packs of wood. but in a pack of like 50 sticks only like 10 of them were any good. so instead of wasting so much, now i buy it on my own at the hobby shop. i've came up with several designs, that i like. so we'll see how ...

Re: How many medals do you have?

here in Illinois, we have the same medals (for regionals and state) as the ones from texas. and i think most states use those ones, they are the regular sci-o ones. i think indiana is just special like that :geek: the only ones that look different are the ones from invites... anyways: my 5 years of ...

Re: Remote Sensing

The Description right from soinc: Remote Sensing (C) - Teams use maps and remote sensing technology to explain human land use patterns and the relationship of a region’s physical environment to the cultural landscape. that's pretty much what it is i guess. each year or two they change the focus of t...

Re: Remote Sensing

Well, the event table said something about human impact on earth, i believe... i'm sorta curious my self (cuz this is my event). but nobody will know until the rules come out. I'd assume it would have a lot about climate change and such. possibly deforestation and pollution. So on the test, it might...

Re: Elevated Bridge 2009

I think I'm going to try my first few bridges in bass so I get a feel of what it can hold and what it should be like before I start doing balsa. With balsa, I feel its going to break because of the inconsistency in the wood before its going to break because of a design flaw. That's an intriguing id...

Elevated Bridge B/C

Hey everybody. I decided to start a discussion for the new elevated bridge event. I had done boomilever for the last 2 years, along with bridge building the three years in division B before that. So i was planning on doing this next year. I looked at the draft rules for this year. in a way it's sort...

Re: Dynamic Planet

oh thats nice to know how in dept can you get with volcanos? you can get pretty in-depth with volcanoes. same goes for earthquakes.
