Re: Wright Stuff in Division B!!!

http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m158/WrightStuffMonster/img_1106.jpg I have about 200 pictures documenting the build to choose from and I started a write up. My intention is to update the wiki with a step by step building process which might be helpful to a few and I am going to try to post some...

Re: Robo-Cross (B)

you know, i've been seeing a lot of posts with scores, and most of them are quite low, my team has been consistently getting 396, and more than often getting a perfect 412. So some teams may want to consider rethinking if they plan to succeed at nationals. You shouldn't be so arrogant no everyone o...

Re: Anyone been DQed at Nationals and felt it was wrong

In the building events I have participated in at nationals I have found that the vast majority of the event supervisors are very knowledgeable in the events and while quite strict, the event supervisors generally err on the side of the students if they are unsure. I dont think they would DQ someone ...

Re: Robo-Cross (B)

Unless you are going to get really creative with tape you pretty much have to scoop/sweep the coins into something. I dont see another way of doing it. The trouble my team is having is that nothing really stays consistent on the board. We sort the legos by hitting them with the robot which sort of m...

Re: Wright Stuff in Division B!!!

If your plane climbs better with 3/32 than 1/8th I think one of two things are happening. Either your motor stick is bending alot under full torque or your dont have enough wash in so that at the beginning of your flight the inboard part of your wing dips in alot and your plane wont climb. Put a ful...

Re: Elevated Bridge 2009

the only thing that i find is at some of the most crucial joints of an entirely balsa structure i find the topmost layer of the balsa is stripped off. That only happens if you dont engineer you joints right. Use the right glue and be smart about how you glue things together. How you construct glue ...

Re: Elevated Bridge 2009

3400 in boom absolutely blows my mind. I know people like to keep designs secret and I totally understand that but if you could describe it some I would be interested in hearing how someone did that. That is over double my best score from last year and I made quite a few booms and consider myself a ...

Re: Wright Stuff in Division B!!!

The feeling of CA on my fingers... I really miss that. They make a CA debonder that actually works (acetone does not really) and prevents you from loosing too much skin. I do not think it is particularly good for you however. CA should really only be used for repairs in WS. Unlike some of the other ...

Re: Elevated Bridge 2009

Yeah but using regual sandpaper is ok right? I assume that a belt sander is some sort of power tool or something. I cut my wood and then sand them down with fine sandpaper to the right size/angle. No sandpaper is always best I think but if you must use it make sure it is something like 400 grit and...
