Re: The Economic Crisis

Well, until problems get exposed in the credit card debt... nothing much would be done. They'll just hope people will still make their payments on time or something. I'll guess when some big problem arises... they'll start talking about how to fix it and such... The US government just rescued Citigr...

Re: The Economic Crisis

I am willing to make a bold speculative prediction that the current high demand for Treasuries will be unsustainable in the future.

Re: The Economic Crisis

Citigroup stock is now in the 3 dollar range, down 20% from yesterday. It is treacherously low right now. I don't have much faith that Citigroup might make it out of this on its own. The government would not let it fail, so it might do a Fannie Mae on it. The government would buy up the company by d...

Re: The Economic Crisis

Yes, it isn't good. General Motors is bound for failure sooner or later. The economic output of the company is less than the economic input it takes in. It sucks out productive capital from the economy. Bailout or no bailout, it will fail later or sooner. Citigroup is having some major troubles. Its...

Re: The Economic Crisis

Jobs for the sake of jobs is not a good reason.

If the health of the economy is based on the number of jobs available to people, then it is really easy to achieve that goal. The government can just ban all machinery on the farms and we'll all have to toil in the fields.

The big 3 automakers are begging for a bailout from the US government.

General Motors will fail in a few months if there is no government intervention.

What say you? :o

Re: The Financial Crisis

Another gigantic stock market rally today. One can speculate that the worse of the financial crisis has subsided, and now we are dealing with the prospect of experiencing a broader and significant economic downturn/recession. It is also rumored that the Fed will cut interest rates to 1% tomorrow. Th...
