Re: Bottle Rocket B

Many competitions have professionally made launchers, but they are not necessarily the most expensive launchers, and most just use a bike pump to pressurize the bottle. I have an Aquaport Launcer Nerds Inc Launcher . Both work well, although I have had a little trouble with the aquaport launcher. It...

Re: Dynamic Planet B/C

I dont get WHY we need 4 pages....1 page is enough as it is, four is just weird. and quite unfair. i personally would prefer no cheat sheets, cause that REALLY separates the people who know their stuff from the people who know how to make good notes. What really separates people who know their stuf...

Re: Dynamic Planet B/C

You don't technically need any books, you can find most information on the internet. A good book to start with would probably be any general earth science textbook, your school should have one that you could try to borrow, and most libraries have one.

Re: Texas 2011

Hello guys, I'm just here (checkin' in!) to say hi! I'm really looking forward to a year of awesome scioly shenanigans and fun. I'm almost giddy with excitement! This year is going to be so great. As to Seven Lakes not having enough money... well let's just say that I've seen worse odds before. So ...

Re: Nationals Swap Meet 2011!

Of course in TX incumbent teams normally only have a reign for a few years, normally no more than 4 or 5, which is about the time it takes for students to cycle through.

no...we have...34 people including alternates
anyone doing history of science?
History of Science is a fun event. I would suggest that you get Isaac Asimov's Biographical Encyclopedia of Scientists though, it really helps with the event and is interesting to read.

Re: Scholarships for State Medals, Anyone?

Texas State doesn't usually give out scholarships to competitors but i think if you win 1st you get a small scholarship for NATs transport.
I wouldn't call it a scholarship, its more to help teams pay for the trip then to help students pay for school.

Re: Scholarships for State Medals, Anyone?

Hi All, I have been tasked with doing a little publicity for our team. I am having little luck coming up with a list of colleges/universities that offer scholarships for Student Olympians that get medals at their state competition. So, is there a list like that somewhere? Thanks! I'm not sure there...

Re: Bottle Rocket B

I have seen backsliders get more than 30 seconds. Not very often, but it can happen.
