Re: New York 2009

Yeah I don't think there is going to be too much of a change, their going to beef up before states, and are able to pull the best from both teams, I think (not quite sure about that). FM will probably get first unfortunately and JD will do good but I don't think top two good. Though it would be nice...

Re: New York 2009

Predictions, anyone? Will F-M finally be toppled? Will Spackenkill go to Nationals for the third straight year? Who are the Dark Horse candidates? Is there any particular reason to think that F-M will be toppled this year that I've missed, or is that just a general question? They were pretty close ...

Re: Wanted Science Olympiad Events

Well, if you live in NY they have a trial event called sumo-bots, the idea is to push the other bot out of the ring. So it pretty much is battlebots. Anyway I want math event, Sumo-bots to go to all states to replace robo-cross (its definitly going.) And some sort of logical event with thinking a p...

Road Scholar for C Div(Me and my partner need another chance to medal in this event after 3 years of not medaling) Same here. No we should keep remote sensing, just change it back to something non-Earth related like the moon or even Mars again (Mars is my favorite event). Though they definitely nee...

Re: New York 2009

Pretty well overall I believe, I didn't get to see their RoboCross but their SumoBot wasn't the greatest. I think they got 6ish out of 10 teams.

Re: Wanted Science Olympiad Events

It is a fun event and quite expensive. The robots need to work on three different frequencies. There are quite a lot of rules for the event which helps with limiting the amount of damage to the robot. Though if people are using other electronic equipment, such as video cameras, cameras with auto-foc...

Re: It's about time

The rules state that it must fit within the 80cm^3 box at impound, however it is able to go beyond that during the competition. You should be able to set it up on a table at the test.

From the National FAQ:

"2.c. May students use symbols that refer to the term, i.e. a triangle (delta) for change, or a plus sign to symbolize a positive charge?"
Answer:
"No. "

Re: Shoot!! I broke my teammate's device!

We won our first match in sumobots this year because the other team forgot to turn the bot on and had the antenna sticking down too far. We would've beat them anyway, it was a remote control car with popsicle sticks.
