Re: Mousetrap Vehicle C

Wow... I feel pretty stupid that I didn't realize that... I guess it is beneficial It can be very important, especially if there are quite a few vehicles that are being as fast as they are this is one place to make up some room if your vehicle is not the fastest. I did pride last year my vehicles s...

Re: Experimental Design B/C

My team went to the Northridge invitational in Indiana this weekend and we got knocked down to second tier because we used our own paper for ED. It said that the rules don't say we can bring our own paper, but we were only supplied printer paper. Is this a legitimate thing or did the event coordina...

Re: Experimental Design B/C

I believe the rules are designed to be vauge so that it is hard to prepare for this event. I think that this event is a better test than most of ability That’s why I liked the rules so much, I did the event for 6 years in a row and nothing was majorly changed. One of the key things why the rules ha...

Re: Mousetrap Vehicle C

Hey guys, so, I'm running the mousetrap vehicle I made at school, and on it's way forward pushing the cup it's fine, but on it's way backwards it randomly curves. Also, is anyone we're using the wingnut design and for some reason the break isn't stopping the vehicle on time. The vehicle always pass...

Re: Mousetrap Vehicle C

Is it worth trying to add a gear system to speed up the vehicle? For example by winding the string on an axle that is connected to the driving axle by gears? That was actually the first thing I did when I started this event last year. I thought I'd have a huge advantage, but it turned out that it s...

Re: Mousetrap Vehicle C

That's awesome. Do any of you guys use sighting devices? I have no idea how they work or if they're useful but I really need to improve my distance score... while having a rifle scope looks really good for a vehicle, often they are heavy and easily jostled become inaccurate if bumped, its not hard ...

Re: Corruption Ring in Science Olympiad

There defiantly is no force that the top teams have over another team... if you have dedication work hard study all the material you can beat one of those so called super unbeatable teams. The same groups of teams do well every year because of coaches and students continue wanting to do well, these ...

Re: Experimental Design B/C

Wait, are there any changes in the rubric from last year? Not really they just made every line on the rubric worth one point so now Div. C has 67pts and B has 63. So for example Statement of the problem had 4 parts to it but only worth 2pts now it’s worth 4 points. This makes it much easier to grad...

Re: Sumo Bots C

does anyone know where to get silicon rubber that i can put around my plexiglass wheels for my sumo bot? Try balloons. They have been adding traction to wheeled Science Olympiad events for years. I would also recommend rubber bands balloons work but for maximum traction thicker rubber of some rubbe...
