Re: Mission Possible C
I will not be doing mission at regionals but I will be doing it at states. I've submitted clarifications at the national and state levels, and I have emailed the States supervisor directly, but have received no replies. No matter how you interpret the "visible" rule, that still doesn't add...

Re: Mission Possible C
I just can't understand why people are operating under the Black Box Rule when it simply does not exist in the rules. How does that make sense?

Re: Mission Possible C
Yeah, but since there is zero evidence of the black box rule in the manual, I'm not convinced that it exists.

Re: Mission Possible C
I disagree. The rules state a transfer must transfer DIRECTLY from one form to another to score points. However a lightbulb only creates light through incandescence, which is a result of the filament reaching a high temperature. This seems clearly to me to be going through Thermal. whether or not yo...

Re: Mission Possible C
I would consider LED's as Electrical -> EMS, but I would consider an incandescent lightbulb as Electrical -> Thermal -> EMS.

Re: Mission Possible C
We really appreciate your work and I think we understand the complexity involved in these things! :) i can also say that I think it's awesome that you are reaching out to competitors, coaches, ES's, etc. in such an accessible way in both this situation and others all the time. Glad to see you're con...

Re: Mission Possible C
I see the concern you have about changing the rules after months of work. However I'm in the same position as you, but I think that it would make the event overall more enjoyable and focus on more important challenges. But I see where you are coming from. I don't agree with the the claim that an adv...

Re: Mission Possible C
I like the idea of saying it will only apply to states and higher- that seems like a fair way to handle the issue of in-progress competitions. I personally prefer the 1st and think it would be best for everyone, but I really think that even allowing all components except IC's would be a big improvem...

Re: Mission Possible C
1. Allowing any and all electrical/electronic components. I think that this would be better because firstly it mirrors the "real world" of engineering better- in several cases I have seen a way to achieve a task using the technically appropriate components that would achieve it more reliab...

Re: Mission Possible C
Haha I like the hint :) Those are good suggestions , although regarding #3- I've heard of some ES's determining whether an object is a resistor by looking at how it's used- which makes sense to me. Sure, the wires connecting your circuit have resistance, but you're not trying to take advantage of th...
