Congratulations to Gelinas and Eagle Hill! Every team did phenomenal and the awards ceremony was quite an emotional ride. We did get 3rd, but we are truly happy for the top 2 teams going to Nationals. Good job everybody.

Re: Water Quality B/C
I'm trying to build my salinometer using the method from the sci oly website (straw and ball of clay) and am having a lot of trouble getting the straw to stand up straight in the water. Other members of my team who have done the event in the past suggested using thick bubble tea straw, so I am usin...

AHHAHAHA it wasn’t the mixtures, it was the workload. When I went to states, they gave us the maximum amount of powders, probably two mixtures, a decent amount of metals and liquids, flame testing for fibers, density test for plastics, microscope for hairs, and another section for fingerprints and ...

For anyone who has been to states before and has competed in Crime Busters, how intense were the powders? How many of them were 3-powder mixtures? Can you write the essay in a list format such as: Jack (Guilty) - Evidence - Evidence - Motive Ethan (Innocent) - Evidence that connects him - Why it is not true Etc. Please help I never have. I've always done paragraphs. Paragraphs are harder to analyze if you're grading (as there is a limited amo...

Re: New York 2019
Personally, I would have to predict these schools as the top 5: 1) Paul J Gelinas Self-explanatory. 2) Bay // Murphy This has been the talk for the last few months. Whether Bay Academy gets 2nd, or RC Murphy gets 2nd, it'll be a very, very close match. While it is difficult to tell how much stronger...
