That's correct. The opening ceremony is supposed to be fun and somewhat casual. Wear silly hats, dress up like your school's mascot, or something stereotypical of your state, etc etc. The awards ceremony is formal (e.g. suits, jackets, dresses, etc).Phenylethylamine wrote: I don't think people usually get really formal for the opening ceremony, although I'm sure someone does. Most schools wear tee-shirts that somehow represent their school or state. It's the award ceremony that everyone gets dressed up for.

Well, I understand that this is Nationals, but what about regionals/states? every team in VA didn't dress up for the AC

What I said only applies to Nationals. I've never been to a regional or state tournament that had formal attire for the awards ceremony.fishman100 wrote:Well, I understand that this is Nationals, but what about regionals/states? every team in VA didn't dress up for the AC

The "official" guidelines about dressing up for the opening and closing ceremonies can be found here.

Re: Parade Of States, Celebrations, and Parties
according to that article, it says that each school has 3 to 5 people representing their state during the parade of states. they are changing some things up i guess. usually its just 2 people

What would the other 1-3 people do? It only takes 2 to hold up a banner...
