On the Fremont Cottonwood, the serrated edges on the leaves are generally farther between then on the Eastern Cottonwood. However, that's not a very good distinction, as there are exceptions, so just using the leaves to ID these trees would not be a great idea. They should give you some berries, and if you have those it should be pretty easy to tell the difference.
Hello, I'm John.

Sherlock (after doing something in reverse): Reverse pyschology!
Me: You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
Lestrade: Inconcievable!
Sherlock: I know what it means, I just like saying it.
Mrs. Hudson: You guys are awesome!

Nah, North Carolina runs their Science Olympiad competitions a bit differently than most - usually five events are switched out for NC-specific ones, and they put in a lot of clarifications just for their events.
2010: 5th in NYS
2011: 4th in NYS
2012: 3rd in NYS

Why would anyone be so ridiculous as to keep the whole event the same, but have them not write in their field guides! Wouldn't you rather encourage them to gather anything and everything known to man about one species of tree than to, as we say about ornithology, wing it?

In the NWF, it lists the Legume family under the family Fabaceae instead of what the list says, Leguminosae...

Why do schools keep using the national list for invitationals? Aren't they supposed to be using the regional (state) list?
