Hematite was the correct answer; though I see where you could say it was tiger eye. Sorry, bad question.
(By the way, that rock was on my school's tryout test, and the correct answer was hematite.)

Interesting, since of the 2 quartz varieties and the hematite that compose the sample, the hematite is the smallest percentage of the stone.

Personally, I always thought it was a rock because it itself is comprised of several minerals
