it sort of looks like hematite. I've ruled out diamond, calcite, and opal for sure, so there are only so many other things it could be, right :P ?

What gave it away was the faint red streaks. That's hematite's tell. I'm on to you, hematite
Isn't it nice when these things go down in minutes, instead of waiting for days for the next question
