Freedom Flights kits have conventional motor sticks.
Specialized Balsa sells 1/64th sheet.

good instructions on that site, I made my first rolled tube from those. As to thickness, it depends on how light you want to make things vs enough strength to hold the thick rubber bands our 3.5 gm models require. You can estimate weight by figuring out the area of the ring multiplying by the length then by the density. Add a little for glue.
