-Cool?
-Correctamundo. And that\'s what we\'re gonna be. We\'re gonna be cool. Now, I\'m gonna count to three, and when I count three, you let go of your mouse, and back away from the keyboard. But when you do it, you do it cool. Ready? One... two... three.

This event is made easier when you have your identical twin to do it with you.

Re: Write It Do It B/C
ikr? My sister and I were practically accused of cheating because of twin-telepathy at state last year. Honestly, if anything, it just makes communication before and after that much easier because we know we can be rude(r) to each other than to, say, a friend.havenbro wrote:This event is made easier when you have your identical twin to do it with you.
Practice also helps, but if that isn't clear after two years of doing it I don't know what is.

Re: Write It Do It B/C
Heh, our team had fraternal twins on the event, they did pretty well too. I have the feeling more actual practicing would have helped, though... do you guys have teammates set up objects for you to practice with at meetings?

Re: Write It Do It B/C
We have a mentor who sets things up one a week and then sets it in a box somewhere in the room. I find it, write it and then my sister does it. The mentor then asks us how we did and helps point out stuff we could improve on. If I remember correctly we still have one from last year to do as well.

Re: Write It Do It B/C
I have a feeling our team isn't going to do as well at this event this year as the last. I was on it with another guy (not my twin XD) and we did really well. We really only defined 6 probably mistaken words and that was it. We got 1st at the invitationals, regionals, and states. Also 12th at nationals, although my partner didn't even write 3/4 of the instructions. I think (and my dad thinks) that the reason for our sucess was we had the right personalities for this event? We barely did any practice, you could call it experimenting--he would see how un-detailed he could get and still come out with the right result. Frankly, that didn't work.
I obviously don't have any tips because I seem to have talent, so I don't know why I'm posting here. XD However, I'm probably not doing this one again, and I'm not sure how we'll come out with a new team this year.

Re: Write It Do It B/C
I do this event with my best friend (who I've known since preschool), so that's kind of similar to a sister. Really, the key to this event is just practice, and also to be willing to listen to your partner's suggestions and difficulties. Going through and highlighting the places that were confusing has been helpful when practicing, to allow the writer to clarify directions. Our approach seems to work, since we medalled at nationals...
2015 events: WIDI, Protein Modeling, Geomapping, Chem Lab
2014 events: WIDI, Geomapping, Materials Science, Food Science
2013 events: WIDI, Mousetrap Vehicle, Heredity, Food Science, Metric Mastery
Best ever place: Nationals, 3rd in WIDI
2014 events: WIDI, Geomapping, Materials Science, Food Science
2013 events: WIDI, Mousetrap Vehicle, Heredity, Food Science, Metric Mastery
Best ever place: Nationals, 3rd in WIDI

Re: Write It Do It B/C
I think it helps if you do the event with someone you know really well, and therefore think similar to them, that way you can use your own form of communication between you and your partner that you both understand easily. And of course, practice is always a good thing.
My common sense is the voice in the back of my head named Donald
Because no one listens to anyone named Donald???
