Other thoughts instead of limiting amps.

The sled has to be released from the rear.

The on/off switch has to be higher then the spinning blades.

Also, the sled must be forced to come to a complete stop before the sled is turned off. A metal sheet would do that.

Ignore what i said about limiting it to rechargeable.

It turns out that you can get high max discharge rate rechargeables as well.

Lololol troll... Look though you see a few teams that have broke the 3000 barrier. Any where 2000-4000 will land you in a good place at nats and essential make it come down to the test. You can also look at the NY scores on the NY page to see some good scores.

Totally. Then when you get the score you can scream to everyone, 'IT'S OVER 9000!'.

Wait, sorry guys. Forgot to not feed the trolls. :D

And dragon ball to you too.

While our meme troll is prolly got a good chuckle for him or herself. It got me thinking.

What if you put the 50cm section way at the other end of the track. Let the mag lev get a good run at it. Could you get 9000 then?

Well, it turns out for us, no. But plausible.

2185 g @ .319 seconds score 6849, almost 7000

However, after nationals the kids want to take a few books and put them under one end of the track and see what it can do down hill. With enough books we are thinking 10,000.

Also they are going to put the mag lev on the gravity vehicle and see how fast it can get to 10M.

Oh, MagLev on the Gravity vehicle, I LIKE that; I want to see that run!
Fan powered dragster. New event possibility; call it Fan Dragon :o
With the kind of oomph your's is cranking out, getting it stopped would be.....interesting, to say the least.

I will record it.

They want to do it at the end of the day before the medal ceremony at nationals.

Len, since the last time you saw the mag lev Gage has rewired it twice and now the resistance in the system is 1/4 of what it was. It is really close to a short circuit at full rpm.

Gaining over 300 points.

It's going to be a close competition.

There are a couple of teams right on our heals and one from conn. (I think) that is doing 3.4k in .62 at 50cm and breathing down our necks.

We got lucky and the air density gave us a little more boost than expected. Putting us under .4 for the 50cm and we could add 200g to get the sled to sit back down on the track.

I am sure that there are a couple of schools that solved the technical problems we could not but, I have not heard of anyone way out there, yet.
