I've never had an outdoor drop. What are they like?MustangSciOly11 wrote:Toms_42 wrote:Indoors, 3 stories off a balcony, 14-16mMustangSciOly11 wrote:Rotor Egg Drop at Nationals is at Russ Lobby & 144 at Wright State. Does anyone know if this is indoors or outdoors? How tall is the drop height?
Maybe they used the same location at the Wright State Invite?
Thank you. It's awesome that it's indoors!

Re: Rotor Egg Drop B
Ive only dropped them outside once, but there was one team at regionals (ya it was a long time ago) whose rotor egg drop got carried by the wind and crashed into the building next to where they were dropping them....I guess outdoors it is more nerve racking....

Yup...I'm glad that at nationals they are doing it indoors...so that takes away the worry of wind and stuff (even though there are probably air vents)sofan wrote:i feel bad for that team.(but it is kind of funny)mwloveslm wrote:Ive only dropped them outside once, but there was one team at regionals (ya it was a long time ago) whose rotor egg drop got carried by the wind and crashed into the building next to where they were dropping them....I guess outdoors it is more nerve racking....

The nonlucky teams will drop when the building heats up.Then, they turn on the A/C. Sucks that competition is in May.mwloveslm wrote:Yup...I'm glad that at nationals they are doing it indoors...so that takes away the worry of wind and stuff (even though there are probably air vents)sofan wrote:i feel bad for that team.(but it is kind of funny)mwloveslm wrote:Ive only dropped them outside once, but there was one team at regionals (ya it was a long time ago) whose rotor egg drop got carried by the wind and crashed into the building next to where they were dropping them....I guess outdoors it is more nerve racking....

Re: Rotor Egg Drop B
In Madison in 2011, our teams bottle rocket got blown onto a slanted roof by the wind , but after 13 seconds rolled off, and the timers didnt stop timing. We got third because of it.mwloveslm wrote:Ive only dropped them outside once, but there was one team at regionals (ya it was a long time ago) whose rotor egg drop got carried by the wind and crashed into the building next to where they were dropping them....I guess outdoors it is more nerve racking....
